- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review
- Take and interpret dental imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in Dentrix
- Follow strict infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to ensure patient and staff safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Previous experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document procedures is important. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix for scheduling, record keeping, and documentation review is required. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique standards is needed. Excellent patient care skills and effective communication with diverse age groups including pediatrics are essential. Experience in chairside assisting and a solid foundation in general dentistry practices will set you apart.
