Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health status.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, documenting dental findings, and updating medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records accurately.
Support infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, maintaining a clean operatory environment, and following proper aseptic techniques.
Review documentation for accuracy, assist with medical coding for billing purposes, and ensure all procedures are properly documented in medical records.
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental clinic or office environment is required.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology is essential.
Prior experience with pediatric dentistry or working with children is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
Knowledge of medical coding procedures relevant to dental services enhances billing accuracy and compliance.
