The HIM Analyst I is responsible for managing deficiencies, contacting providers, overseeing medical records, and serving as the primary HIM contact. Tasks include preparing, scanning, and reviewing medical records, executing information release processes, ensuring accurate billing, resolving accounts, and fostering patient care collaborations. Responsibilities extend to developing HIM projects, educating staff, ensuring compliance, and maintaining professionalism.
Key job functions include gathering, analyzing, and tracking deficiencies and delinquencies; serving as main contact for medical records corrections; preparing, scanning, indexing, and quality reviewing medical records; managing release of information with accurate logging and billing; coordinating with transcription, coding, and records management/storage; delivering education and training on HIM topics; assessing and ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines (CMS, The Joint Commission, AMA, HIPAA); working with coders and billers to resolve problem accounts; cultivating relationships with patients, providers, and facilities; developing and reporting HIM quality improvement projects and KPIs; conducting audits and analyses; demonstrating effective time management and professionalism.
- Minimum one year of healthcare experience, preferably in Health Information Management (HIM)
- One year of Release of Information and HIPAA experience preferred
- Clinical documentation analysis preferred
- Understanding of medical terminology
