Primary responsibilities include onboarding new coders, conducting interviews, administering coding proficiency assessments, training on systems, monitoring coder accuracy and productivity, establishing backup plans, assisting with coding escalations, managing workload distribution, compiling monthly reports, conducting annual performance evaluations, providing coding updates, coding as needed to support productivity, coordinating education on coding and billing, managing timesheets and PTO requests, overseeing internal audits, and upholding company policies. Additional duties involve supporting coding and revenue cycle staff with contractual arrangements and audits, and staying updated with industry standards from organizations such as AAPC and Medicare MACs.
Requires CPC certification from AAPC and may include additional certifications such as CPB, CRC, CPC-I. Must have proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines, modifier usage, HIPAA, and claims filing principles. Minimum 5 years of direct coding experience and billing knowledge is required.
