Under direction of management or supervisor, review, develop, maintain, and report appropriate surgical information. Maintain surgery's charge description master (CDM) on surgical and hospital billing systems.
Assist Clinical Systems Analyst and Inventory Facilitator, including maintaining EPIC files and bill only processes. Train staff on EPIC and act as EPIC super user.
Schedule and code for the department and provide daily coverage for scheduler/coder duties.
Automate scheduling of surgical cases through direct contact with surgeons or their office staff. Serve as liaison to Community Outreach marketing Surgical Services to Medical Staff.
Design procedures, perform analysis, and develop clear reports ensuring accuracy and understanding.
Handle proprietary information with professionalism, communication, performance, and confidentiality.
Make scheduling decisions to balance physicians' and patients' needs while managing equipment and staff conflicts.
Ensure patient surgical charges are accurate and proofread logs including bill only items.
Maintain South Meadows Surgical Services EPIC system files, including staff, procedures, supplies, privileges, and preference cards.
Train staff on Surgical Services EPIC system functions: scheduling, coding, charging, printing, and preference card maintenance.
Maintain patient surgical charts and uphold high HIPAA standards to ensure patient privacy.
This position does not provide direct patient care.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Preferred associate degree in Business Administration or Computer Science; accounting preferred.
- Minimum one year experience with microcomputer spreadsheet applications, computer programming and/or system analysis.
- One year hospital or physician office experience required; surgical scheduling experience preferred.
- Must possess or obtain computer skills for online learning and systems use within 90 days.
- Working-level knowledge of English language (reading, writing, speaking).
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Preferred Associate's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or accounting.
- Minimum one year experience with spreadsheet applications.
- At least one year computer programming and/or system analysis experience.
- One year hospital or physician office experience required; surgical scheduling experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain necessary computer skills within 90 days.
