Dental Billing Analyst

Cabin Creek Health Systems

Performs billing functions in accordance with organizational billing and collections policies, insurance regulations, and coding guidelines. Responsible for managing billing and collections for assigned dental providers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of patient billing. Analyzes and resolves billing issues and problem accounts by researching reimbursement information. Provides feedback on billing procedures and maintains understanding of third-party payor regulations and state and federal billing laws.

Key duties include monitoring dental accounts receivable, posting dental payments from third-party payors, researching and writing appeals, contacting payers and providers to ensure claim adjudication, monitoring aging reports, assisting dental staff and patients with account and payment questions, supporting credentialing processes, providing patient financial counseling and enrollment for assistance programs, creating and monitoring payment plans in compliance with company policies, processing adjustments and refunds, and maintaining current knowledge of billing and coding practices through education and training.

Additional responsibilities involve serving as backup in dental front offices and providing training on coding procedures and policy changes.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school graduate
  • Certification as Certified Procedural Coder preferred
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology required
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and third-party payor guidelines pertaining to coding and billing required
  • Basic keyboarding, PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to navigate electronic health record and practice management systems
  • Good communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Physical ability to perform desk work for extended periods and communicate effectively
