Charge Poster

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Charge Poster, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient medical billing and coding processes. As a Charge Poster, you'll be the backbone of our billing operations, meticulously reviewing and posting charges to ensure timely and precise reimbursement for services rendered. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will directly contribute to the financial health of our organization while supporting excellent patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately review and interpret medical records, including documentation related to diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
  • Post charges into EMR/EHR systems based on detailed review of provider notes, ensuring all services are correctly coded using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Verify that all billed items align with medical records and adhere to insurance guidelines and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with medical billing teams to resolve discrepancies or issues related to coding or charges.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all posted charges, corrections, and adjustments for audit purposes.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, including ICD coding updates and new CPT codes, to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support the collection process by providing accurate charge information necessary for effective medical collections efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in medical office environments with a focus on medical coding or billing.
  • Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for documentation and charge entry.
  • Experience with medical records review and interpretation of clinical documentation.
  • Understanding of medical billing processes and insurance reimbursement procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies quickly.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
