This position performs revenue cycle duties including processing patient insurance information through the patient intake process, collecting payments on outstanding patient balances, and resolving credits when overpayments are received from payers and refunds need to be issued.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Handling revenue operations related to medical insurance collections or credits, or setting patient insurance coverage
- Communicating with insurance payers to ensure proper insurance coverage for patients and timely reimbursement for dialysis services rendered at clinics
- Responding timely and accurately to payer communications
- Collaborating with revenue operations teams to ensure seamless processing
- Partnering with clinic teammates such as insurance counselors, social workers, and facility administrators to ensure timely and accurate insurance information
- Identifying process improvements opportunities
- Maintaining current patient account information
- Maintaining confidentiality of company and patient information per HIPAA and company policies
May be asked to work overtime as needed and attend team meetings or training. Must know and follow teammate guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Training provided by DaVita covering revenue cycle, insurance rules, regulations, medical billing, reimbursement practices, and usage of DaVita billing systems
- Basic knowledge of medical reimbursement terminology and healthcare reimbursement accounting principles
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and demonstrate resiliency
