At Duffy Health Center, the Physician provides primary medical care to adult patients at the center and outreach sites. Responsibilities include thorough exams, diagnosis, treatment plans, ordering tests, prescriptions, follow-up care, patient education, and collaborating with clinical staff including nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The role involves engaging with underserved populations, specifically those experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, and participating in the teaching of medical students and residents. The physician supports integrated care plans, engages with quality improvement initiatives, and maintains compliance with health regulations and standards.
The position is per diem for Saturday hours from 8am to 1pm and requires a medical degree (MD or DO), valid MA medical license or eligibility, board certification or eligibility in Primary Care (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Medicine/Pediatrics), and at least three years of outpatient clinical experience, preferably in community health settings serving underserved populations. Skills required include patient care management, knowledge of healthcare issues related to homelessness, HIPAA regulations, team-based care, effective communication, and flexibility with work hours.
Work environment involves exposure to clinical risks, patient interaction, and physical activity. Confidential information handling and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
Population Served includes unhoused, housing insecure, and substance use disorder/behavioral health clients.
The role demands moderate physical strength, mental dexterity, and the ability to manage a panel of approximately 700 patients. Commitment to the mission of serving homeless and at-risk populations and teamwork is critical.
Position is full-time per diem with expected 6 hours per week on Saturdays.
