Provides primary care to patients under the supervision of a physician preceptor, following established medical protocols.
Maintains departmental policies, objectives, quality assurance, and safety standards.
Delivers direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults specialists as needed, and adjusts care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Collaborates with physician preceptors to develop and review medical protocols.
Conducts complete medical histories and appropriate physical exams.
Identifies patient health hazards and risk factors considering cultural, economic, and resource aspects.
Obtains lab specimens and analyzes data for diagnosis and treatment.
Ensures consistency of treatment plans with established protocols.
Accurately documents patient medical records and follows Medicare guidelines for CPT and ICD coding.
Communicates effectively with patients following AIDET principles.
Refers patients to appropriate services beyond scope of practice.
Provides health promotion counseling and patient education.
May supervise clinical staff and serves as resource for other personnel.
Participates in professional development through seminars and workshops.
Collaborates as part of the care team with patients and other healthcare providers.
Complies with policies, safety standards, annual education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must meet State requirements as a Nurse Practitioner.
CPR certification required.
Must have and maintain applicable specialty certification (examples include Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) from recognized organizations such as AANP, ANCC, AACN, NCC, PNCB, NBCRNA, AMCB.
