Wound Care Specialists is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide advanced mobile wound care services in patients' homes, assisted living facilities, and other community-based settings on a part-time/PRN basis. This role emphasizes autonomous clinical practice focusing on complex wound healing without controlled substance prescribing.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct comprehensive wound evaluations and ongoing assessments in home-based settings
- Diagnose and manage acute, chronic, and complex wounds such as pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, and surgical/traumatic wounds
- Perform bedside procedures including sharp debridement (credentialed), incision and drainage, suturing, and biopsy (if trained)
- Develop and implement individualized wound treatment plans
- Coordinate care with home health nurses, primary care providers, podiatrists, vascular specialists, and other consultants
- Order and interpret non-controlled medications, labs, imaging, and vascular studies
- Provide education on wound care, infection prevention, nutrition, and risk factor modification
- Document accurately according to Medicare and payer guidelines
- Participate in quality improvement and outcomes tracking initiatives
This position does not involve controlled substance prescribing, and DEA registration is not required.
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in North Carolina
- Current NP Board Certification
- Master's Degree from an Accredited NP program
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience preferred
- Wound care experience strongly preferred; WCC or similar certification a plus
- Ability or willingness to perform sharp debridement
- Strong clinical judgment and independent practice abilities
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
