Provider (MD, DO) - Primary Care

Primary Care of Southwest Georgia

Under indirect supervision, provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population.

Responsibilities include direct patient care such as physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment. Prescribes medications and treatment regimens as appropriate. Refers patients to specialists and relevant patient care components. Trains and supervises medical students and residents involved in specialty activities and procedures. May manage daily operations of a medical program, patient care unit, or research function. Directs and coordinates patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.

Follows departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Participates in health promotion, education, and prevention programs. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications require a Medical Doctor with 3 to 5 years of related experience including residency in a medical specialty, board certified or eligible in the specialty area.

Knowledge and skills include legal and ethical standards for medical care delivery, quality and safety standards, community medical diagnostic and patient care services, supervision and training of clinical professionals and students, accreditation and certification requirements, principles and procedures of medical evaluation and treatment, effective communication skills, and ability to work independently or in teams. Familiarity with relevant drugs and prescription practices is required.

Must be able to handle physical demands such as patient lifting, walking, standing for prolonged periods, and working under stressful conditions including exposure to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens with OSHA training required.

Requirements & Qualifications

Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience including residency. Board certified or board eligible in a medical specialty. Ability to perform physical exams, assessments, diagnose, and treat patients. Knowledge of legal, ethical, quality, safety, and infection control standards. Ability to supervise and train clinical staff and students. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle physical demands and stressful conditions. OSHA training regarding blood-borne pathogens required. Primary care experience: minimum 1 year. Must be able to relocate to Quitman, GA.
