Health Information Specialist

The Idaho Division of Veterans Services is recruiting for a full-time Health Information Specialist position located at the Lewiston Veterans Home.

The ideal candidate will manage health information systems and staff, provide technical assistance, and deliver data and information to the facility and staff.

Responsibilities include developing health information systems, standards, and procedures; directing system maintenance; hiring, training, and evaluating staff; ensuring integrity and appropriate access to health records; establishing data quality controls; ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements; participating in professional committees; resolving record-keeping conflicts; providing technical assistance in automated system design to ensure confidentiality and compliance; auditing patient records for accuracy and completeness; authorizing release of information; coordinating records activities; and possibly maintaining the facility's medical library.

Certification preferred as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from AHIMA.

Knowledge of supervisory practices and automated information systems is desired.

Experience interpreting and explaining laws, rules, and legal documents related to health information records management is required.
