Optometrist

County of Ventura Health Care Agency

Join County of Ventura’s Health Care Agency Ambulatory Care department and make a direct impact in our community by helping provide vision services to our patients. This independent contractor position provides complete, comprehensive, culturally sensitive Adult and Pediatric Optometry services including obtaining medical histories, performing examinations, making diagnoses, prescribing ophthalmic spectacles, contact lenses, and medication to treat ocular diseases and disorders. Responsibilities include working with high patient volume, following quality improvement workflows, clear communication, maintaining courteous relations, accurate medical records using EHR, timely response to portal messages, participation in meetings and training, adherence to safety and infection control protocols, and keeping credentialing and CME requirements up to date.

Schedule: 2-4 days a month from 8 am-5 pm.

Pay: $450 per half day.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school or college of Optometry.
  • California Certificate to use Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents.
  • Current California license issued by the State Board of Optometry.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience providing vision services as a licensed Optometrist.
  • Knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology, pathology, mechanics of the human eye, visual processes, ocular pharmacology and therapeutics.
