Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Phlebotomist for our busy St. Augustine Office. The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing a variety of blood-drawing techniques, including venipuncture, to collect blood specimens for laboratory procedures. This position involves direct patient interaction to obtain background info, explain procedures, and collect specimens.
The role also includes maintaining inventory and restocking supplies, preparing test order forms, processing, labeling, and storing blood samples, and performing other duties as assigned.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Perform aseptic blood drawing procedures including venipuncture using standard equipment (vacutainer tubes, tourniquets, syringes, butterfly needles)
- Interact with patients to gather information, explain procedures, and ensure cooperation
- Maintain positive patient identification and record collection info per protocols
- Ensure specimen requirements and integrity
- Initial, date, and time all collections
- Process, label, and store blood samples
- Prepare test order forms
- Comply with laboratory/hospital policies and safety practices
- Maintain inventory and restock supplies
- Perform quality control procedures to comply with regulations
- Assist with specimen processing and testing as needed
This is a full-time Monday-Friday position located at 121 Whitehall Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32086.

Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified phlebotomist or state licensure preferred; otherwise, at least one year recent related experience including three months clinical/hospital/lab practice
- Must be able to perform standard phlebotomy procedures
- Knowledge of blood processing and handling
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification or licensure preferred; else minimum one year related experience with three months clinical/hospital/lab setting
