Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) invites applications for the position of Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) in its Special Delivery Unit (SDU), a unique pediatric hospital-based birthing facility focused on high-risk pregnancies involving fetal anomalies. The SDU offers integrated maternal and neonatal care with advanced resources, including cesarean and fetal surgery operating rooms, LDRP rooms, and infant stabilization rooms.

The RN role includes following the nursing process to deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally effective care, participating in interdisciplinary collaboration, documentation, patient education, and quality improvement initiatives. Nurses practice according to ANA Code of Ethics, applicable nursing standards, and within Nurse Practice Acts of PA/NJ.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum one year experience in Labor and Delivery nursing required; two years preferred
  • Registered Nurse licensure in Pennsylvania or New Jersey required
  • CPR certification required

The role demands skills in clinical assessment, evidence-based practice, communication, teamwork, informatics competency, and professional development.

Work shift: Rotating

Location: Philadelphia, PA 19104

Salary is hourly ($47.15 - $56.72/hour). Full-time employment.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Technical Diploma in Nursing required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum one year of Labor and Delivery RN experience required, two years preferred
  • Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey required upon hire
  • CPR certification with hands-on instructor-led psychomotor skills verification required upon hire
  • Competence in computer use including Microsoft Office, clinical communication systems, and electronic health records
  • Knowledge of nursing practice standards and ethical guidelines
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams and deliver family-centered care
  • Commitment to professional development and quality improvement initiatives
