The HIM Technician prepares medical records for scanning according to established procedures and productivity standards, retrieves and files paper records needed for patient care, assists with release of information services, conducts chart audits, helps resolve dictation issues, and supports document imaging software users. The role also includes interviewing mothers for birth certificate information and entering data into electronic birth certificate systems, handling fetal death certificates, and maintaining quality scanning equipment.

The position requires ensuring records are properly tracked and assisting physicians with chart deficiencies in compliance with rules. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
Ability to follow scanning procedures and maintain equipment
Strong organizational and communication skills to handle patient records and inquiries
Commitment to safety and vaccinations as mandated by the organization
