Provides outpatient care according to Rural Acute Care Hospital standards. Conducts regular outpatient clinics and general medical and pediatric examinations, diagnoses, and treats patients. Determines when specialist services are needed to treat unusual cases. Analyzes clinical records to determine preliminary diagnosis, provides professional care, obtains necessary consultations for difficult cases, and authorizes admission of patients to acute care hospitals for emergency medical care and surgery. Participates in organizational meetings to develop, modify, and evaluate medical procedures related to patient care to improve healthcare quality.
Provides professional supervision of nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Responsible for preparing and maintaining accreditation by The Joint Commission through participation in performance improvement committees.
Demonstrates professionalism, advanced interpersonal skills, cooperation, initiative, and adheres to confidentiality policies.
Job specific skills include ability to deliver care to various age groups, medical knowledge, cross-cultural communication, and making appropriate specialist referrals.
Holds a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree recognized in the US with at least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or residency). Must possess a permanent, unrestricted medical practice license; California license preferred.
Adheres to drug testing policies and confidentiality standards. Subject to performance evaluations and introductory period. Preference given to qualified Indian applicants.
Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 100 pounds, and specific vision abilities.
Work environment involves exposure to blood-borne pathogens, contagious diseases, chemicals, and occasional travel. Noise level usually loud.
Annual training includes Health Stream courses and CPR, PALS, ACLS certifications.
