Assist physician with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice working within and to the maximum scope of license.
Direct patient to exam room and prepare patient for exam or treatment by identifying height, weight, respirations, blood pressure, temperature, additional testing, and record same on chart. Interview patient to obtain history, allergies, reconcile medication list and record on chart as requested.
Write or call prescriptions after obtaining surgeon/provider authorization for all department surgeons/providers as needed. Chart as written in patient’s chart.
Email, fax or call in any insurance referrals. Follow up phone call with referral number to specialist if requested.
Assist in smooth departmental operation by filling in for other LPNs, clinical assistants, and MOAs as requested. Answer telephone and perform clerical functions as necessary.
Attend to exam and procedure rooms, ensure proper supplies, maintain order and cleanliness. Order medications or clinical supplies for the department as requested.
Administer prescribed injections/medications and record them on patient’s chart.
Route patient after exam to proper area for ancillary testing or follow-up appointments.
Basic knowledge of medications (side effects/contraindications).
Read and review pathology results with patients.
Setup and tear down sterile fields.
Basic knowledge of surgical instruments.
Prepare surgical trays as needed for daily procedures.
Assist surgeon with operative procedures both in office and Operating Room if necessary.
Maintain infection control measures, proper cleaning of surgical equipment and use of autoclave.
Proficient with autoclave sterilization process.
Knowledge and proficiency in dressing changes and suture removal.
Assess signs and symptoms of infection and report to surgeon and/or provider.
Perform Hepatitis checks and follow protocol to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse.
Perform high level disinfection based on departmental equipment.
Attend new employee orientation and all mandatory trainings.
Comply with dress code policy.
Attend and participate in department meetings, contributing to department/office goals.

Must be a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed in the state of practice.
One year healthcare experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge of medications, surgical instruments, sterile field setups, infection control, and clinical procedures.
Ability to assist providers and perform clinical and clerical tasks.
