The Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) for Breast Imaging oversees all regulatory compliance for mammography under standards including MQSA, FDA, and ACR at McLeod Hospital Systems. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining quality assurance programs, performing regular quality control checks on mammography equipment, maintaining records of QA/QC activities, managing imaging discrepancies and patient complaints, coordinating with medical leadership to ensure best safety and accuracy practices, training new staff, developing QA policies and procedures, facilitating continuing education and competency assessments, ensuring HIPAA compliance, tracking equipment maintenance, collaborating with leadership on quality issues, updating reporting dashboards, and assisting with patient care as needed.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of mammography and quality control testing experience, knowledge of MQSA, ACR regulations, strong analytical skills, proficiency in EHR and PACS, and certification or eligibility from ARRT in Mammography. Additional certifications include South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association and Basic Life Support (BLS). A graduate from an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology program is required.
