We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Dental Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical billing and coding, with specific expertise in dental insurance claims processing. As a Dental Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing cycle, ensuring accurate claim submissions, and facilitating timely reimbursements. Your role is vital in maintaining efficient financial operations and supporting excellent patient care through precise billing practices.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit dental insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Review patient records and medical documentation to ensure billing accuracy and compliance with insurance requirements.
- Manage denials and rejections by investigating issues, correcting errors, and resubmitting claims promptly.
- Collaborate with dental providers to verify treatment details and ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, coding guidelines, and industry regulations related to dental billing.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to accurately record patient information and process claims efficiently.
- Perform medical collections by following up on unpaid or partially paid claims to maximize revenue recovery.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare privacy laws and maintain confidentiality of patient records.
Experience:
- Proven experience in medical or dental billing, with a focus on insurance claim processing and collections.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding principles, including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding systems.
- Familiarity with dental-specific billing practices and terminology within a medical office setting.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and other medical office software platforms.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures.
- Prior experience handling medical collections and resolving claim denials efficiently.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to billing compliance is highly desirable.
Proven experience in medical or dental billing, insurance claim processing, collections, knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG codes, familiarity with dental billing practices, experience with EMR/EHR, understanding of medical terminology and billing procedures, knowledge of healthcare billing compliance regulations.
