Completes trauma, burn, and acute care surgery registry tasks, including data collection, data entry, data retrieval, data quality and integrity checks, data analysis, and statistical reporting for research, performance improvement, injury prevention, education, billing, and outcome measurement.
Obtains, abstracts, and reports concurrent and retrospective patient data for trauma, burn, and acute care surgery patients. Uses AIS and ICD-10 coding to maintain patient databases and supports validation, continuing education, and confidentiality compliance.
Associate degree in healthcare, technology, education, health information, or a related field, or two or more years of trauma registry experience in lieu of a degree.
- 1-2 years of related experience required; 3-5 years preferred
- Successful completion within 12 months of hire of:
- AIS coding course from AAAM
- American Trauma Society Registrar Course or state equivalent covering abstraction, data management, report analysis, data validation, and HIPAA
- One or more of the following certifications required:
- CSTR
- CAISS
- CIC
- CCA
- CCS
- RHIT
- RHIA
