Baptist Health, a large healthcare system serving central Alabama, is hiring an Accounts Review Specialist to support account resolution and financial follow-up.
The role includes reviewing and auditing account activity, updating information in billing and payer systems, filing insurance-related items, supporting patient financial assistance, confirming patient responsibility balances, handling payment posting review, identifying overpayments and refunds, and entering account notes. The specialist will also assist patients and families by phone and in person.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing, collections, or related experience
- Prior healthcare experience with knowledge of third-party payers and denials
- CPAR certification preferred
Skills and knowledge:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent planning, organizational, decision-making, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and multitask
- Strong analytical and lateral thinking skills
- Ability to communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA standards, and third-party payers
- Strong customer service and professional composure in difficult situations
