Insurance Verifier

United Surgical Partners International, Inc

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Pinecroft is seeking a motivated Insurance Verifier to join the team. The center has 6 OR rooms and 2 treatment rooms and performs outpatient surgical procedures in General, GI, ENT, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Spine, and Urology.

The position requires weekdays only, with no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required depending on the surgical schedule and daily flow.

Job summary

Validating and entering patient information and insurance coverage into the appropriate computer system.

Verifying insurance benefits by reviewing the contract and the patient’s quoted benefits.

Determining co-pay amounts.

Posting insurance and billing comments.

Entering all information into the patient accounting system.

Contacting patients regarding money due prior to the date of surgery.

Communicating with physician offices, insurance carriers, and patients as needed for follow-up.

Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

3–4 years of previous medical collections experience required, specifically in healthcare insurance collections of all types.

Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred.

Medical terminology knowledge.

Ability to work independently.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong time management and prioritization skills, including handling emergent situations.

Good customer service skills and professional demeanor.

Critical thinking skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Experience with electronic patient information systems.
