Provides support and insight into revenue cycle processes, including avoidable denials, charge capture and reconciliation, reporting, trending, analytics, and training as needed.
Responsible for the timely and accurate capture of patient service revenue and for supporting the development and maintenance of the Charge Description Master (CDM).
Works across registration, coding, and billing functions to improve revenue cycle performance and serves as a liaison for regulations, payer requirements, and project oversight.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Services, Finance, or a closely related field, or equivalent training and experience.
At least 3 years of related professional/business experience in a technical or financial healthcare environment, including demonstrated Epic experience and leadership skills.
Preferred certification as a medical coder through AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC-H), and/or CRIP certification.
Strong knowledge of charging and billing best practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to investigate issues, analyze root causes, provide practical solutions, and negotiate resolutions.
Ability to make independent business decisions with attention to client satisfaction and departmental financial impact.
Strong analytical skills, experience creating financial analysis, and understanding of DRG, CPT/HCPC medical coding, medical terminology, accounting principles, and hospital financial reporting.
