USPI Kingwood Endoscopy Surgery Center is seeking a motivated Insurance Verifier to join the team in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center environment committed to high-quality patient care.
The Insurance Verifier is responsible for obtaining and recording eligibility and benefit information for patients receiving services at Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital Kingwood. This role uses online tools such as Cerner and payer websites, as well as phone communication, to gather information needed for financial clearance and timely account securing for elective and urgent services.
The position supports the pre-certification and authorization process, communicates with patients, co-workers, insurance companies, and physicians, and helps ensure accounts are financially secure through accurate review and documentation of benefits, patient liability, and authorization requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of related experience in medical insurance verification
- Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
- Knowledge of accounting theory and practices to calculate estimated patient portions due
- Ability to work under rigid deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Professional, non-judgmental communication style
- Ability to support patient satisfaction and departmental goals
- Experience documenting benefits, patient liabilities, and authorization/pre-certification requirements
- Ability to support the pre-registration team during peak times
