The HIM Specialist monitors, evaluates, and troubleshoots the electronic medical record; prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports; audits patient records for accuracy and completeness; and helps ensure record systems and procedures comply with legal, accreditation, licensure, and certification requirements.
The role also supports transcription accuracy and timely charting, assists with super-user training, serves as a liaison to medical staff, and performs secretarial and clerical functions for Health Information Management Services under the supervision of the Manager of Health Information Management Services.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Location: Singing River Pascagoula Hospital
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in a medical or business field preferred.
Professional certification in a medical or business field preferred.
Two years of professional clerical experience in a structured office environment.
Must be accurate in detailed work and proficient with computers.
Must understand the principles of abstracting statistical and medical data.
Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and minimal supervision.
Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills required.
Must be keyboard proficient and able to use office technology and MS Outlook and Word.
Clinical judgment and the ability to work with a patient population of all ages are required.
