Datavant is a healthcare data collaboration platform focused on making health data secure, accessible, and actionable across the healthcare ecosystem.
This entry-level onsite role is responsible for processing release of information (ROI) requests, especially medical records requests, in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
The position is onsite in San Antonio, TX and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing patient health information requests in accordance with company and facility policies
- Protecting patient privacy and safeguarding medical information
- Logging requests received by mail and fax
- Fulfillment of medical records requests using tracking software
- Answering phones and voicemail
- Assisting with patient walk-ins
- Managing paper and electronic records
- Creating digital images for storage in the electronic medical record
- Responding to internal and external records requests
- Handling administrative tasks such as faxes, mail, and data entry
- Meeting productivity expectations in a production-based environment
Requirements & Qualifications
Preferred skills and experience
- Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
- Familiarity with EHR and billing systems
- Experience working with subpoenas
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Previous production- or metric-based work experience
- In-person customer service experience
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong data entry skills
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to use phones, fax machines, printers, and other office equipment
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to respond in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons when required
