The Traveling Release of Information Specialist (ROIS) processes medical record release requests by entering data into Verisma software and ensuring documentation is completed accurately and efficiently. This hybrid role is based at a client site in Pittsburgh, PA, with consistent travel to multiple client locations as business needs require.
The position supports HIPAA-related release issues, organizes records and documents, maintains confidentiality, and provides customer service in person, by phone, and by email. The role also includes helping train and mentor new associates, attending required training, and performing additional duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- RHIT certification preferred
- At least 4 years of experience in a healthcare setting and medical records
- Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to the release of protected health information
- Ability to work independently and maintain strong attention to detail
- Clean driving record with valid insurance
- Must be able to maintain required background checks, drug screenings, health screenings, and access requirements
- Experience with clerical work, desktop computers, scanners, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel as needed
