Processes and fulfills requests for protected health information (PHI) in compliance with regulations while supporting requester experience.
Handles provider questions related to documentation and basic chart corrections. Also manages scanned medical records to help maintain quality and productivity standards.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical terminology knowledge.
1 year of experience in an HIM/medical records department or related field.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Some college coursework
- 2 years of experience in an acute care medical records department
- 1 year of experience in Release of Information or Analysis in an acute care setting
- RHIT or RHIA certification
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills
- Proficiency with medical record regulatory requirements, research, Microsoft Office, medical terminology, and EHR terminology
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work on a computer for extended periods
