Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel MedSurg Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care across diverse healthcare settings in Shiprock, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical expertise in medical-surgical nursing, critical care, and specialized procedures such as catheterization, IV infusion, and trauma medicine.

This travel role offers the opportunity to work in dynamic environments, deliver high-quality nursing services, and adapt to a variety of patient populations and healthcare protocols. The successful applicant will be proficient in electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner and will ensure accurate documentation and seamless communication within multidisciplinary teams.

Duties

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic conditions across medical-surgical units, including telemetry, ICU, and emergency departments.
  • Perform patient assessments, vital sign monitoring, and physiological evaluations to inform treatment plans.
  • Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, using aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Assist with complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization, dialysis management, and airway management.
  • Collaborate with physicians and specialists to coordinate patient treatment plans.
  • Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation, ICD-10-related charting, and case management activities.
  • Educate patients on medication administration, pain management, nutrition, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in triage and infection control practices to maintain a safe environment.
Requirements & Qualifications

Requirements

  • Valid RN license with current registration in the applicable state licensure board.
  • 2 years of RN experience required.
  • 1 recent year of MedSurg RN experience preferred.
  • Experience in hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred.
  • ICU or emergency room experience highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner.
  • Strong clinical skills in critical care procedures such as ventilator management, tube feeding, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and aseptic techniques.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, memory care patients, and those requiring long-term or post-acute care.
  • Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with hospice and palliative medicine practices is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
