This is a flexible, part-time, on-site opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented medical billing professional who enjoys solving billing challenges and supporting a mission-driven healthcare team.
Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, you will handle billing, collections, follow-up, and related administrative tasks for home health services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims for home health services.
- Verify insurance eligibility and patient benefits.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and outstanding accounts receivable balances.
- Manage insurance and patient collections.
- Perform payment posting and EOB reconciliation.
- Handle denial management, claim corrections, and appeals.
- Complete eligibility and benefits verification.
- Assist with prior authorizations as needed.
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal teams regarding billing matters.
- Support additional finance and administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience with home health billing and collections.
- Insurance claim submission experience, including Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, PPO, HMO, and commercial payers.
- Experience with denial management and appeals.
- Accounts receivable follow-up experience.
- Knowledge of insurance and patient collections.
- Experience with payment posting and EOB reconciliation.
- Experience with eligibility and benefits verification.
- Prior authorization experience preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR and billing systems such as Kinnser, Waystar, Office Ally, or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and communication skills.
