The Histotechnician / Medical Assistant plays a critical role in preparing, processing, and analyzing tissue samples that support accurate diagnoses and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in histological techniques and medical assisting, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to precision and accuracy in laboratory work.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the doctor in welcoming and evaluating patients and supporting excellent patient care
- Travel to other local clinics when needed
- Cut slides
- Perform patient intake
- Enter data into the electronic health record system
- Prepare and handle medical supplies, instruments, and specimens
- Prepare materials for the provider
- Keep the facility and equipment clean and tidy
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
- Dermatology medical assistant experience: 2+ years required
- Histology experience: 1 year preferred
- Laboratory experience preferred
- Passion for helping people
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, punctual, detail-oriented, and professional
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow detailed instructions carefully
- Ability to learn new systems and grow
- Fluency with computer systems and a variety of software packages
- ASCP, HT (Histotechnician), or HTL (Histotechnologist) preferred
