Supports the coding team and HIM Director by coordinating activities that impact coding operations across the organization.
- Maintains current coding policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Communicates coding updates and reference materials
- Coordinates meetings, education, and book orders
- Generates reports supporting DNFB and denial management efforts
- Assists with coding and CDI audits
- Supports calendar and timecard updates as requested
- Monitors denials work and assigns accounts to appropriate teams
- Works with IT and vendors to resolve coding-related issues
- Supports day-to-day coding functions across inpatient, ambulatory surgery, referred outpatient, and professional services
- Helps monitor CCI and medical necessity edits to support clean claims submission
- Assists with RVU analysis and provider education as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
Two-year college degree or higher preferred.
Preferred certifications:
- RHIA
- RHIT
- CCS
- CCS-P
- CHC
- CHC-P
Additional qualifications:
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology
- Strong medical terminology knowledge
- Coding auditing background preferred
- High interpersonal skills for working with medical staff, administration, and quality management
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work closely with leadership and the coding team to support organizational goals
