This role is responsible for managing billing processes and reporting, accounts receivable, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating the collection of payments from insurance companies and patients. The position is important to maintaining the financial health of the practice while supporting compliance with healthcare regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
Duties
- Process patient billing information and submit claims to insurance companies accurately and promptly.
- Review and verify patient records to ensure all necessary information is included for billing purposes.
- Use ICD-10 and CPT coding systems to assign appropriate diagnosis codes.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve discrepancies, and manage collections effectively.
- Maintain organized medical records and billing/collections documentation.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing questions and issues.
- Stay current on medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
- Collaborate with the external biller and internal admin team.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge of medical office operations, billing, and collections processes.
- Experience managing accounts receivable.
- Familiarity with mental health terminology and ICD-10/CPT coding systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
