The Medical Assistant will support both administrative and clinical functions in a fast-paced healthcare environment, helping ensure smooth daily operations and quality patient care.
Key responsibilities include assisting providers with patient examinations and scheduling, administering medications as directed, performing basic laboratory tests, maintaining patient records, supporting appointment flow, preparing exam rooms, educating patients, and collaborating with nursing staff. The role also includes documenting assessments, medication logs, and detoxification scores for patients in treatment.
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification/licensure in the State of New Mexico
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
- Previous experience in a medical setting preferred
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is a plus
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication skills and compassionate patient interaction
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical standards
Additional duties and expectations
- Administer oral medications and supervise self-administration when appropriate
- Manage prescriptions and coordinate with MD/NP/RN staff
- Obtain verbal orders when required
- Support client physicals, weekly assessments, follow-ups, and documentation
- Delegate to medical technicians within scope of practice
- Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds, and performing various manual tasks
