Optometrist

Castillejos Eye Institute Medical Group

Provide high-quality vision care to patients through comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis and management of eye conditions, prescription of corrective lenses, and patient education on ongoing eye health.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to evaluate visual acuity and overall eye health
  • Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses based on patient needs
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye procedures
  • Educate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and preventive care
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in electronic medical systems
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated patient care
  • Deliver an excellent patient experience through professional, compassionate service
  • Provide care for a diverse patient population, including pediatric and senior patients
  • Support additional clinical duties as needed
Requirements & Qualifications

Preferred qualifications and skills include:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Active optometry license in the applicable state
  • Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, optometry practices, and eye disease management
  • Experience performing routine and medical eye exams
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and medical documentation
  • Strong communication and patient education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical setting
  • Experience providing care for senior patients
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred
  • Sales experience related to eyewear recommendations is a plus
