Professional Coding & Support Coordinator

Avita Health System is seeking a dedicated Professional Coding & Support Coordinator to join its Patient Financial Services Department in Crestline.

This role analyzes coding processes and implements action plans to improve efficiency, productivity, and cash collection. The coordinator serves as a coding subject matter expert and primary liaison for physicians, providers, office managers, information technology staff, and vendors. The position also oversees audit follow-up for compliance with CPT, ICD-10, payer guidelines, and applicable government laws and regulations.

The role identifies denial trends, resolves core issues, and educates professional coding staff and providers using trend analysis, receivable and productivity reports, and payer updates.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Professional coding certification such as CPC, CCS-P, CCS, or CMC
  • Previous physician billing, coding, and/or denial resolution experience
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare business office practices and procedures
  • Strong computer skills, including billing software and PC-based productivity tools such as spreadsheets, word processing, and email
  • Ability to research, analyze, and solve problems
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Mature, compassionate, customer-focused attitude and professional demeanor

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree or active pursuit of an advanced degree
  • AAHAM or HFMA certification, or active pursuit of certification
  • EPIC PB certification or programming experience
  • Basic medical terminology skills to read and interpret clinical documentation
