The Leave Administrator serves as the in-house subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all leaves of absence, including FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, military, personal, and state-mandated leaves.
This role partners closely with a third-party administrator to improve leave processes, ensure compliance, and enhance the team member experience. Responsibilities include developing and documenting internal standard operating procedures, auditing leave records, supporting payroll and benefits coordination, and helping implement state paid leave programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3+ years of specialized experience in employee leave and absence management in a complex, multi-state environment
- Expert-level knowledge of FMLA, ADA, STD/LTD administration, and multi-state leave laws, especially Delaware and/or Maryland
- Experience using Microsoft products, including Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory information clearly and compassionately
- Preferred experience managing or overseeing third-party leave administration (TPA)
- Preferred healthcare industry experience
- Preferred PHR, SHRM-CP, or CLMS certification
- Preferred experience with HRIS systems such as Workday, UKG, or Oracle
