The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I within the VitalChart department of VRC Companies, LLC is responsible for processing assigned requests for medical records in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining accuracy and high-quality service to healthcare clients.
This role safeguards patient privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals access patient medical information and that all release of information requests comply with authorization requirements, company policies, healthcare facility procedures, and applicable federal and state laws, including HIPAA.
The position requires consistent productivity, strong attention to detail, and professional communication with internal leaders, clients, and requestors. It also involves handling privileged information securely and maintaining a positive image of the company.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred
- Prior ROI fulfillment experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and meet deadlines
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to maintain productivity and quality standards
- Basic knowledge of medical records and HIPAA preferred
- Prior experience with EHR/EMR platforms preferred
- Prior experience with Windows and Microsoft Office products
- Strong computer skills
- Familiarity with office equipment such as printers, fax machines, scanners, and microfilm reader/printers preferred
- Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to focus for extended periods
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- Bilingual skills are desirable
