Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Medical Records Technician II in the Health Information Management Department.
In this role, you will retrieve, assemble, and disseminate patient information within the medical center, from off-site storage facilities, and from electronic medical record systems. You will also initiate and maintain medical record numbers, control logs/registries, and other health information systems.
This position is on-site at the Hyde Park campus in Chicago, IL, with a weekday day shift schedule.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 to 2 years of previous experience in an acute care HIM department as a Medical Record Technician I or in a similar position
- Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including customer interaction and phone communication
- Ability to work independently with self-discipline and in a team environment
- Medical terminology training required, or successful completion within 9 months of employment
- Good key entry and/or typing skills with CRT and/or PC experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of medical-legal rules and regulations governing confidentiality and release of protected health information
- Terminal digit filing
