Medical Records Processing Specialist

HealthMark Group is a health IT solutions provider focused on streamlining the release of information and patient information workflows for healthcare organizations. The company is hiring an Onsite Medical Records Processing Specialist to support release of information (ROI) operations.

This is an entry-level role based in Cleveland, MS, with a work arrangement that is primarily remote but requires onsite coverage as needed.

The role is responsible for processing incoming ROI requests, maintaining accuracy and turnaround standards, validating and authorizing release of protected health information, performing quality checks, and assisting patients, clients, and requestors with medical records status updates. The position also requires strong attention to confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and customer service.

Requirements & Qualifications

Key responsibilities

  • Complete incoming ROI requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain 100% ROI accuracy
  • Complete STAT requests within one hour and other ROI requests within 24 hours
  • Keep queues current
  • Validate requests and authorize release of PHI according to established procedures
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing
  • Maintain confidentiality, security, and ethical standards when handling medical records
  • Complete legal affidavits and related questions as needed
  • Scan ROI requests into the chart
  • Follow HealthMark and client ROI policies
  • Keep a clean, orderly, and professional work area
  • Maintain and update facility guides as needed
  • Communicate effectively with customers, patients, and requestors
  • Assist with status calls regarding medical records requests
