Health Information Specialist 1

Datavant is a healthcare data collaboration platform focused on making health data secure, accessible, and actionable. This role supports the processing of release of information (ROI) requests for medical records in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm EST, and is remote. The work involves handling medical record requests from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys, documenting information across multiple systems, and maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities include managing patient health records, responding to record requests, preparing new patient charts, scanning and assembling records, handling inbound and outbound calls, assisting walk-ins when needed, and supporting administrative tasks such as faxing, mail, and data entry. The role requires working in a high-volume, production-based environment and meeting productivity expectations.

Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Basic computer proficiency.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Strong data entry skills.

Ability to use phones, fax machines, printers, and other office equipment.

Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.

Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.

Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Able to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.

Ability to commute between locations as needed.

Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons when required.

Preferred:

Experience in a healthcare environment. Previous production- or metric-based work experience. In-person customer service experience. Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers. Interest in process improvement and feedback sharing.
