The Medical Lab Technician performs routine and specialized diagnostic testing on blood, body fluids, and other specimens to support accurate and timely patient diagnosis and care.
The role involves performing moderate and high-complexity laboratory tests, maintaining quality control standards, operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, and documenting results in compliance with laboratory protocols and regulatory guidelines. The technician also supports phlebotomy duties, maintains laboratory records, and collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient laboratory operations.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Laboratory Technology required
- Or completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (50 weeks minimum) and holding the MOS of Medical Laboratory Specialist
- 0-2 years of acute care laboratory experience required
- MLT certification through ASCP, AMT, AAB, HEW, or equivalent certifying agency required
- State license where applicable required

- Strong knowledge of laboratory testing principles, procedures, and quality control standards
- Proficiency in laboratory equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
