The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for conducting routine and specialized diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimens to support accurate and timely patient diagnosis and care.
This role performs moderate and high-complexity testing while following quality control standards, laboratory protocols, and regulatory guidelines. The technician also maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, ensures a safe and compliant work environment, and collaborates with healthcare professionals to provide critical diagnostic information.
Shift: 7P-7A, 3x12s, variable days including weekend time.
Associate degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology required.
Or completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (50 weeks minimum) and holding the military occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
0-2 years of acute care laboratory experience required.
MLT certification through ASCP, AMT, AAB, HEW, or an equivalent certification agency required.
Strong knowledge of laboratory testing principles, procedures, and quality control standards. Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment. Ability to analyze and interpret quality control data and patient test results. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and infection control protocols. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
