The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I is responsible for processing assigned requests for medical records accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high level of service to healthcare clients.
This role safeguards patient privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals receive access to medical information and that all requests comply with request authorization requirements, company procedures, healthcare facility policies, and applicable federal and state regulations, including HIPAA.
The position works closely with the ROI Area Manager and/or Team Leader, communicates issues that may affect quality or service expectations, and helps maintain a positive professional image for the organization.
Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred
- Prior ROI fulfillment experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and meet deadlines
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to maintain productivity and quality standards
- Basic knowledge of medical records and HIPAA preferred
- Prior experience with EHR/EMR platforms preferred
- Experience using Windows and Microsoft Office products
- Strong computer skills
- Prior experience using printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, and microfilm reader/printers preferred
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to stay focused for extended periods
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- Bilingual skills are desirable
