The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for conducting routine and specialized diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimens to support accurate and timely patient diagnosis and care.
This night shift role runs from 8:30 pm to 7:00 am and involves performing moderate and high-complexity testing, maintaining quality control standards, operating laboratory equipment, assisting with phlebotomy duties, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology required, or
- Completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (50 weeks minimum) and MOS of Medical Laboratory Specialist required
- 0-2 years of acute care laboratory experience required
- MLT certification through ASCP, AMT, AAB, HEW, or equivalent required
- State license where applicable required
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory testing principles, procedures, and quality control standards
- Proficiency in laboratory equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Ability to analyze and interpret quality control data and patient test results
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and infection control protocols
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
