The Medical Assistant supports the clinic care team by providing direct patient care and assisting with both clinical and non-clinical duties. This role helps reduce barriers to care, promotes patient health and well-being, and works collaboratively with providers and staff in an in-person clinic setting.
Key responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, obtaining vital signs and histories, documenting information in the electronic medical record, assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, performing routine screenings, collecting specimens, administering injections and vaccines as ordered, supporting referrals and follow-up, maintaining supplies and equipment, cleaning exam rooms and instruments, and supporting clinical audits and quality improvement activities.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must have graduated from an approved Medical Assistant program.
Must be able to work as part of a care team and support quality patient care at each visit.
Must have sufficient experience to carry out the duties of the position.
Must be qualified in Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques.
Must be able to communicate with warmth and effectiveness with patients and providers.
