Datavant is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Release of Information (ROI) Health Information Specialist to support MedStar Hospitals in the area. The role is responsible for processing medical record requests, maintaining HIPAA compliance, and ensuring the accurate and timely release of protected health information (PHI).
The position is onsite in Clinton, MD and requires travel to support MedStar Hospitals. It follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST.
Key responsibilities include processing ROI requests, retrieving and compiling medical records from EMR systems, generating reports, performing administrative functions related to ROI processing, maintaining organized request tracking, communicating with healthcare staff and requestors, and supporting coverage when onsite staff are out.
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred skills and qualifications include:
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
- Computer proficiency and data entry accuracy
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
Hands-on role-specific training during the first 30 days through Datavant DHISC training.
Post-offer health screenings and proof of vaccinations may be required by clients, with exemption requests reviewed case by case.
