This procedure is specifically designed to measure the frequency and amplitude of tremors, which are involuntary muscle movements that can significantly impact a patient's quality of life. The most prevalent type of tremor assessed through this method is essential tremor, characterized by rhythmic, oscillatory movements primarily affecting the hands, although it can also involve other body parts such as the head, voice, tongue, legs, and trunk. During the procedure, a device equipped with these sensors is affixed to the patient's arm, wrist, or finger, allowing for precise measurement of tremor characteristics.
